Core Value: Resilience

There are seven core values at Arlast Capital and resilience is among them.  On our website we state:

We have staying power that lasts.

We are tenacious in the face of hardship, persevering with an understanding that our success will be measured over a period of years, not quarters.  We withstand, adapt to, and overcome adversity.

Why is resilience important?

At Arlast, we believe resilience is what enables individuals and organizations to confront challenges, adapt to changes, and thrive in the face of adversity. It involves maintaining stamina and focus during difficult circumstances and bouncing back from setbacks. While important on an individual level, it is also crucial for the overall health and success of a business.

What exactly is resilience?

Resilience is the ability to effectively navigate high pressure, manage stress, and recover from disappointments or failures. It involves mental toughness, an optimistic outlook, and the capability to persevere under adverse conditions. Resilient individuals are not only able to handle their own stress but can also contribute positively to their team’s dynamics, especially in challenging times.  We find that resilient employees are often more engaged, less prone to burnout, and more productive.

How can we become resilient?

  1. Be adaptable: The ability to adjust to new conditions or changes in the workplace is a cornerstone of resilience. Adaptable employees can pivot strategies, learn new technologies, or shift roles as needed, contributing to the agility of their organizations.
  2. Improve emotional intelligence: Resilient individuals possess high emotional intelligence. They can manage their emotions and respond effectively to the feelings of others, fostering a supportive work environment.
  3. Develop problem-solving skills: Facing challenges head-on and finding solutions to obstacles is a critical aspect of resilience. Employees who can approach problems creatively contribute to the resilience of their teams.
  4. Build support networks: Maintaining a robust support system at work, including supportive colleagues and understanding leadership, can promote resilience. These networks provide emotional and practical support during tough times.

What does Arlast do in support of resilience?

We promote resilience at our workplace by:

  1. Encouraging professional development: The more our employees learn, the more resilient they become.  Training programs, workshops, and access to educational courses equip our employees with the knowledge they need to solve problems.
  2. Building a supportive culture: We promote mutual respect, open communication, and constant teamwork to maintain morale and encourage resilience. We strive to create an inclusive environment where every employee feels valued and supported.
  3. Leading by example: Our leaders demonstrate resilience, from managing stress to showing adaptability, and set a powerful example for their teams to follow.

We believe resilience is not an innate trait but rather a skill that can be developed and grown over time. It is an essential part of personal and professional growth and a major contributor to the success of our organization.
